Walk Through History: Bible Edition

In 2024, I committed to listening to the entire Bible within a year. As I journeyed through the Old Testament, I found myself wondering where these events fit within the broader scope of history. My search for a comprehensive chronological order of the Bible proved unsuccessful, and it was then that I felt led to create one myself. I invite you to join me on this journey—walking through history as we explore Scripture in its historical context.

Day 197: Isaiah 13-17

Welcome back to Day 197 of our Bible reading journey. Today we begin a series of powerful prophecies in Isaiah 13–17, where God speaks not only to His own people but also to the nations surrounding them. These chapters contain messages of judgment against Babylon, Assyria, Philistia, Moab, Damascus, and Israel, reminding us that the Lord is sovereign over every kingdom, every ruler, and every nation on earth. At first glance, these prophecies may seem distant from our lives today, but their message is timeless. Nations rise and fall, empires boast in their strength, and people place their trust in power, wealth, and alliances. Yet Isaiah declares that human pride cannot stand before the holiness and authority of God. Amid the warnings, we also catch glimpses of God's mercy. Even in judgment, He remains faithful to His purposes. He humbles the proud, protects His people, and preserves a remnant who will continue to trust in Him. As you listen today, pay attention to the contrast between human confidence and God's sovereignty. Ask yourself: Where am I placing my trust? In the shifting strengths of this world, or in the Lord who rules over all nations and all history? Let's begin Day 197: Isaiah 13–17.

Day 201: Hosea 1-7

Welcome back to Day 201 of our Bible reading journey.
Over the next two days, we'll be reading through the book of Hosea. Today, we're covering Hosea chapters 1–7.
As I read these chapters, I can't help but notice some striking parallels between the spiritual condition of Israel in Hosea's day and some of the challenges we see in our own society today. Hosea describes a people who had drifted from God, trusted in their own strength, pursued other allegiances, and gradually lost sight of the covenant relationship they were called to maintain.
While every historical period is unique, Hosea's message reminds us that God's concern is not merely outward religion but hearts that are genuinely devoted to Him. Even amid judgment and consequences, His desire is always to call His people back to repentance, faithfulness, and restoration.
Let's dive into Hosea 1–7 and consider what these chapters might be saying to us today.

Day 202: Hosea 8-14

Welcome back to Day 202 of our Bible reading journey.
Today, we finish the book of Hosea, covering chapters 8–14. As we come to the end of this powerful prophetic book, we'll see both the consequences of Israel's continued rebellion and the incredible depth of God's love and mercy.
Throughout Hosea, God has confronted His people's idolatry, unfaithfulness, and misplaced trust. In these final chapters, the warnings become more urgent, but so does the invitation to return. Even after all of Israel's wandering, God's desire is not destruction but restoration.
One of the most beautiful themes in Hosea is that God's faithfulness remains even when His people are unfaithful. The book ends with a call to repentance and a promise of healing, renewal, and blessing for those who turn back to Him.
As we read Hosea 8–14 today, let's reflect on where we place our trust, how we respond to God's correction, and the amazing truth that His grace is always greater than our failure.
Let's begin.

Welcome back to the podcast, everyone. Today is Day 203 of our journey through Scripture, and we're reading Isaiah chapters 28 through 30.
In these chapters, Isaiah delivers a powerful message to a people who have placed their trust in human wisdom, political alliances, and earthly security rather than in God. We’ll see warnings against pride, reminders of God's justice, and a beautiful picture of His mercy toward those who return to Him. Even as judgment is announced, God's heart remains to teach, restore, and guide His people.
As you listen today, consider this question: Where am I tempted to trust my own plans instead of seeking God's direction? Isaiah reminds us that true peace and strength are found not in striving harder, but in returning to the Lord with faith and dependence.
So grab your Bible, find a quiet place if you can, and let's spend time in God's Word together.
