Walk Through History: Bible Edition

In 2024, I committed to listening to the entire Bible within a year. As I journeyed through the Old Testament, I found myself wondering where these events fit within the broader scope of history. My search for a comprehensive chronological order of the Bible proved unsuccessful, and it was then that I felt led to create one myself. I invite you to join me on this journey—walking through history as we explore Scripture in its historical context.

Welcome to Day 135 of our journey through Scripture.
Today, we step into some of the most intense and emotional chapters in the life of King David as we read 2 Samuel 13 through 15. These passages pull back the curtain on the brokenness within David’s own family—stories of betrayal, injustice, revenge, and heartbreaking consequences that ripple through generations.
We’ll witness the devastating events surrounding Tamar, the deep anger of Absalom, and the unraveling of trust inside the royal household. As tensions rise, we begin to see how personal sin and unresolved conflict can fracture even the strongest of families—and how leadership is tested in the midst of crisis.
But even in the chaos, there are powerful lessons about justice, mercy, accountability, and the long shadows our choices can cast.
So take a deep breath, quiet your heart, and let’s lean in together as we read 2 Samuel chapters 13 through 15.

Today we’re covering 2 Samuel chapters 16 through 18, where we see David fleeing from Absalom during his rebellion. Along the way, David faces both loyalty and betrayal—encountering people like Ziba, Shimei, and Hushai. Meanwhile, Absalom takes control in Jerusalem, but ultimately, his rebellion leads to a decisive battle. Chapter 18 ends with Absalom’s death, bringing both victory for David and deep personal grief as he mourns his son.

Hey everybody, welcome back to our daily Bible journey! Today is Day 139, and we’re stepping into 2 Samuel chapters 19 through 21—a section full of restoration, leadership challenges, and powerful reminders of God’s justice and mercy.
And today is extra meaningful for me… because it’s my birthday! 🥳 In 2026, this reading falls on May 19th, and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than being right here, in God’s Word with you. There’s something incredible about starting another year of life grounded in Scripture—reflecting on where God has brought us and trusting Him for what’s ahead.
In today’s chapters, we see King David navigating the aftermath of heartbreak and division. There’s reconciliation to be made, loyalties tested, and wisdom needed at every turn. David is learning—and reminding us—that leadership isn’t just about victory, it’s about humility, grace, and making things right. And as the story unfolds, we also see how God remains faithful, even when people fall short.
So whether you’re celebrating something today, walking through a tough season, or just showing up to listen, this is a beautiful reminder: God is present in every chapter of our lives—both the messy and the meaningful.
Thanks for being here with me today—consider this not just a reading, but a little birthday celebration together. 🎂📖
Alright, let’s jump in! 🎧
