Walk Through History: Bible Edition

In 2024, I committed to listening to the entire Bible within a year. As I journeyed through the Old Testament, I found myself wondering where these events fit within the broader scope of history. My search for a comprehensive chronological order of the Bible proved unsuccessful, and it was then that I felt led to create one myself. I invite you to join me on this journey—walking through history as we explore Scripture in its historical context.

Today is Day 143, and we’re nearing the end of an important chapter in Israel’s story.
In today’s reading, we finish the book of 2 Samuel with chapter 24, where we witness David’s census and the consequences that follow—along with a powerful moment of repentance and sacrifice.
We then move into 1 Chronicles chapters 21 and 22, which revisit that same event with added perspective, and begin to prepare the way for the building of the temple—a legacy David won’t complete, but faithfully sets in motion.
Finally, we turn to Psalm 30, a song of gratitude and restoration—reminding us that sorrow may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
As you listen today, reflect on themes of repentance, preparation, and God’s mercy that restores.
Let’s begin.

Welcome back to the journey.Today is Day 144, and we’re continuing our walk through the Psalms—diving into chapters 108 through 110.
In today’s reading, we hear a powerful blend of confidence, worship, and victory. Psalm 108 calls us to steadfast praise, even before the outcome is clear. Psalm 109 wrestles honestly with opposition and injustice, reminding us that God hears even our most difficult prayers. And Psalm 110 lifts our eyes to a vision of God’s authority and the promise of a reigning King.
As you listen, pay attention to the tension between struggle and trust—and how each Psalm ultimately points us back to God’s strength and sovereignty.
Let’s begin.

Day 147:" 1 Chronicles 26-29 and Pslams 127

Welcome back to the journey.
Today’s reading takes us to the closing chapters of 1 Chronicles, where David prepares for something, he will never personally see completed—the temple of the Lord. We watch him organize gatekeepers, assign responsibilities, and gather resources, all while knowing that Solomon will carry the vision forward.
There’s something powerful here: David doesn’t step back because it’s not “his moment.” Instead, he pours out his best for the next generation. In chapter 29, his prayer reminds us that everything we give—our time, our gifts, our resources—comes from God in the first place. It’s all His.
Then we turn to Psalm 127, which reframes everything:“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
It’s a reminder that success isn’t just about effort or planning—it’s about dependence on God. Whether we’re building a family, a legacy, a ministry, or simply our day-to-day lives, the foundation matters more than the activity.
So today, ask yourself:What am I building—and am I inviting God into it?
Let’s dive in.
