But today holds an added treat—because this is also where we encounter our very first Psalm: Psalm 90. A prayer of Moses himself, it fits perfectly with the closing scenes of Deuteronomy, giving us a rare look into the heart of the man who led a nation for forty years.

We read about the inheritance of Ephraim and Manasseh, and then something unexpected happens: progress stalls. Even with victory behind them, seven tribes still haven’t taken possession of what God has already given.
So Joshua challenges the people—How long will you wait to take hold of the inheritance the Lord has set before you?
These chapters may seem like lists of boundaries and names, but underneath them is a powerful tension between promise and obedience, between potential and action. Joshua 16–18 asks us an honest question:What has God already placed within reach that we’re hesitating to step into?
As we walk through these chapters today, we’ll explore themes of obedience, responsibility, unity, and the danger of spiritual complacency—discovering how ancient tribal allotments still speak directly into our faith today.
