Walk Through History: Bible Edition

It is Day 90—what an incredible achievement. For ninety days, you have faithfully walked through the history of the Word of God, pressing forward, listening, and growing. Today, we continue that journey in the book of Judges, reading chapters 3 through 5.
In these chapters, we begin to see the cycle that defines this era: turning away, crying out, and God raising up deliverers. From unexpected leaders to breathtaking moments of courage and worship, these stories remind us that God remains faithful—even when His people struggle to be.

Welcome to Day 92 of our Walk Through History. Today finds us once again in the book of Judges, as we turn our attention to chapters 8 and 9—a sobering continuation of Gideon’s story and a cautionary look at leadership without God.
What happens after the victory? Judges 8 shows us Gideon stepping away from faith‑filled dependence and into compromise, while Judges 9 introduces Abimelech—a ruler driven by ambition, power, and violence rather than calling. These chapters remind us that spiritual success doesn’t guarantee spiritual faithfulness, and that the consequences of our choices can echo far beyond a single generation.
As we walk through Judges 8 and 9 today, we’ll wrestle with themes of pride, misplaced worship, and the difference between being chosen by God and seizing authority for ourselves.
