Walk Through History: Bible Edition

In 2024, I committed to listening to the entire Bible within a year. As I journeyed through the Old Testament, I found myself wondering where these events fit within the broader scope of history. My search for a comprehensive chronological order of the Bible proved unsuccessful, and it was then that I felt led to create one myself. I invite you to join me on this journey—walking through history as we explore Scripture in its historical context.

Day 287: Matthew 13 and Luke 6

18 min
Welcome back to Day 287 of our Walk Through History Bible reading plan! Yesterday, we explored Jesus' teaching and ministry in Matthew 11. Today, we move into some of Christ's most well-known parables as we read Matthew 13 and continue in Luke 6.
In Matthew 13, Jesus uses stories about seeds, soil, weeds, treasure, and a pearl of great price to reveal the mysteries of God's Kingdom. These parables challenge us to examine our hearts and consider how we respond to God's Word. In Luke 6, we revisit Jesus' teaching on loving our enemies, showing mercy, and building our lives on a firm foundation through obedience to Him.
As you read today, pay attention to the different responses people have to Jesus' message. Ask yourself: What kind of soil am I? Am I simply hearing God's Word, or am I allowing it to take root and produce fruit in my life?
Let's open our hearts, quiet the distractions, and spend time with the One who still speaks through His Word today. Let's get started.

Day 288: Mark 4-5

Welcome back to Day 288 of our Walk Through History Bible reading plan!
Today we continue following the ministry of Jesus as we read Mark 4 and Mark 5. These chapters showcase both the power of Christ's teaching and the authority He has over every part of creation. We'll hear the parable of the Sower and other lessons about the Kingdom of God, reminding us that God's Word is always at work, even when we can't immediately see the results.
In Mark 5, we witness some incredible displays of Jesus' power. He frees a man possessed by demons, heals a woman who had suffered for years, and even raises a young girl from the dead. Time and again, we see that nothing is beyond His reach. No storm is too strong, no struggle is too deep, and no situation is too hopeless for the Savior.
As you read today, pay attention to the faith of those who came to Jesus and the compassion He showed to people who felt forgotten, broken, or beyond help. Consider where God may be calling you to trust Him more deeply and believe that He is still working in ways you may not yet see.
Let's open His Word together and continue our walk through history. Let's get started.

Welcome back to Walk Through History! Today is Day 291 of our journey through the Bible, and we are reading John 6. In this chapter, we see Jesus feed the five thousand, walk on water, and teach one of His most challenging messages: that He is the Bread of Life. As the crowds seek Him for physical food, Jesus points them to something far greater, the spiritual nourishment that only He can provide. His words remind us that true satisfaction, hope, and eternal life are found in Him alone. As you listen today, consider this question: Are you seeking Jesus primarily for what He can give, or for who He is? Thank you for joining me as we prioritize God's Word together every day. If this podcast has encouraged you, please share it with a friend. And if you have a prayer request, feel free to send me a message or write to PO Box 2, Glendive, MT 59330. Now, let's dive into John 6.
